The Rules
Find here the Rules of the 6th edition of the International Award UCLG - Mexico City - Culture 21, which recognises cities and individuals who have excelled in the promotion of cultural rights for local sustainable development.
The 6th edition of the Award will be launched on 29 November 2023 on the occasion of the 5th UCLG Culture Summit held in Dublín (Ireland). Applications for Phase 1 will be received between 29 November 2023 and 16 February 2024. The applications that move on to Phase 2 will be received between 1 March and 3 April 2024.
The nominations will be received between 29 November 2023 and 3 April 2024.
The International Jury will held its final meeting and the final results will be announced in May 2024.
Category “Individual”
The deadline for nominations is 3 April 2024.
For the category "Individual", spontaneous nominations shall be submitted only to the e-mail address cultureaward (at) uclg.org. The spontaneous nomination shall consist of one document, according to the proposed form. Once a nomination has been received, the organisers of the Award will send a message by email acknowledging the receipt.
Nominations will not be published.
The Jury will hold its final meeting in May 2024. The final results will be announced in May 2024, y the Award Ceremony will be celebrated in July or September 2024.
Category “City / Local or Regional Government”
In the category "City/Local or Regional Government", candidacies shall exclusively be written using the form available on the side, and sent by email to cultureaward (at) uclg.org.
The process is divided into two phases:
PHASE 1. The Jury will analyse the applications received before 16 Fabruary 2024.
PHASE 2. The finalists will then deliver their candidacies (that is, fully completed: with all fields of the Application Form) before 3 April 2024, which will be analysed fully by the Jury.
The Jury will hold its final meeting in May 2024. The winner(s) will be announced in May 2024, and the Award Ceremony will be organised in July or September 2024.
